As mod on that (gossip) comm I agree. To be honest, I also think it’s unnecessary to have two separate dunking comms based on whether someone is a public figure or a random person. A lot of times that distinction can be quite blurry, and I don’t blame people for choosing to post in Slop instead, as that is the more active comm.
Reunite El Chisme and Slop to a single comm, and remove slop’s rule #8. “Do not post public figures, these should be posted to c/gossip”

Yes. Like I said in the other thread, I say slop is slop regardless of its profile.
I would suggest a possible middleground of requiring tagging of literal nobody, no-engagement slop with something like [dregs], and the highest profile ruling-class-monster-saying-something-absurd-and-horrible posts with something like [premium] or [hellworld] or the like and letting the big fuzzy middleground go untagged or just get a [slop] prefix, especially since this is low-stakes stuff that can just be edited in if someone forgets. Do a little light social engineering to make it part of the bit so people remember it better and that would probably be all the categorization needed.

I like this idea the most so far
IIRC, the post tagging feature (and filtering by tags) is something in the works in mainline Lemmy, isn’t it? I think that would solve the main argument in defense of having separate comms (e.g., people not wanting to engage with [screenshots of] the 10-followers-on-Bluesky bad take havers).
I’m just suggesting putting the text in the title, but actual tags and filtering would also be a very good feature, especially if it’s less awkward to use than reddit’s dogshit “flair” system where the filter is just doing a search for specific flairs.
