Look if you think the UK can dictate foreign policy of the Empire then I have a bridge to sell you. The British Empire required the CIA’s assistance to conduct their coups and subversions during the early Cold War, and the United States placed them in their proper place during the Suez Crisis. The financial domination of the Dollar and the intertwining of the British with the Americans goes back before the second world war.

The British share the same goals and attitudes as the American elite, which is why the assimilation of the UK was so successful but its obvious who is driving this car.

So the CIA did exactly what the british wanted them to do? You are making my point for me.

Look if you think the UK can dictate foreign policy of the Empire then I have a bridge to sell you.

I never said that. Don’t hear things I am not saying.

I am saying you are underestimating the amount of pies the british have their fingers in and their ability to convince the usa to protect british interests. You seem to be implying that being second fiddle to the worlds largest, most aggressive military power means you don’t do anything or have any power. That’s silly.

When the biggest meanest guy in town is your best friend you don’t just sit on your hands. You go and start shit all over town and when you run into problems you call the big guy in to fix things. You want a flirt with a pretty girl? you tell the big guy that her boyfriend said he was stupid. You lose at dice? you tell him the other players robbed you.

The relationship between the brits and usa more complicated but quite similar to that. Britain does neo-imperialism on sly. When usa finds out (usually because it is going wrong) they come in guns blazing and demand the lions share of the profits. The suez moment wasn’t the end of british ambition it was just them finding the limit on how overt their imperialism can be.
