    Why is it that when “things nobody actually wants” are too expensive, capital goes out if it’s way to make sure we all have to use it. But when “things people actually need” are “too expensive” capital suddenly can’t afford it.

      they’re desperately trying to will AI into something useful because it tempts them with the pot at the end of the rainbow (finally getting rid of labor)

        For techbros like Musk yeah, but there are a lot of traditional finance market capitalists that don’t care about that, its only the current big thing that justifies making the line go up. They tried that with NFTs too and it wasn’t even that much of a conscious class effort too.

      I feel like you already know the answer to this. Reserve army of labor is but one of the reasons that government doesn’t provide basic necessities to all its citizens.
