Andor just makes it even dumber that the leadership of the rebellion is composed of senators and the republics political elite. We literally see that these people are puffed up incompetents who were champions of the broken old order and yet we see revolutionaries defer to them as if it was the natural state of things.
The show has to bend the liberal knee. The adults are in the room, sweaty!1!11!! Imagine any of these media conglomerates actually showing a functioning, grassroots, prole committee in their media.
Yeah that whole part of the last act makes absolutely no sense. We don’t see ANY of Luthen and the alliance interacting, and suddenly the major plot is them distrusting him and saying he’s “been a major thorn in our side for too long”. Okay? Did you wanna show any of that or set it up at all? No? And it’s about the empire building a superweapon. You’re not interested in checking that out at all? And then Andor flips back and forth to fit into the Cassian-sized hole in the story whenever needed.
There was basically no explanation for any of the characters’ distrust of Luthen besides what just came out of nowhere, aside from Mon, which was also a bit dumb. It made absolutely no sense for all of the revolutionaries to suddenly turn on him and be absorbed by politicians, while complaining the whole time.
Andor just kinda forgot it wanted to be a political show. Why did they put wilmon with saw in the first place? And then did nothing with, returned him and gave him a blonde gf (again) Like he does nothing.
Imagine if they used wilmon to showcase a event that causes great discord between saw and the alliance. Maybe something like an assassination of a moff from naboo?
That’s all the characters. I thought Saw was preparing to do something huge with all the setup it got. I thought there was going to be another heist with the fake twist / double twist thing with the decryptor device. Then he just disappears from the story. He didn’t add anything at all. Devoting all that time to just cramming Rogue One characters into the show was so creatively bankrupt. Even just him springing a trap for the empire when they showed up after the mole would have been something.
There almost certainly WAS something those episodes are written to build for, which they just didn’t do cause of time, but without finding a satisfying reason for keeping that thread in at all.
If saw hasnt a completed arc and they somehow couldnt fit/cut other things, then saw shouldnt be in season 2. A lot of characters kinda disappear and its not really due to a satisfactory end of their arc. Like they cut a scene of perrin confessing to mon, that he knows she has been founding a rebellion and that he would have supported her! Like thats an actual resolution!
I love shows that overstay their welcome, so I was happy to hear that they were going to stop at 2 seasons on that basis. I think it would have been healthy to go for three seasons, though.
Two blonde gfs being more relevant to his end state than huffing rhydo and throwing bombs with saw truly makes me think you’re right. Season 2 seems to have missed why people enjoyed the first one and replaced it with “palpatine, krennic, Death Star.” The curse of a gilroy’s deal with the mouse-devil
I don’t think that is why thing turned out how they did. I think Gilroy wanted to use as much of his original 5 season plans but truncated. That inevitably runs into a problem, and thus the whole season feels thematically disjointed. I really wish they had re-written more and just chosen a throughline for the season. They could even do the time jumps, just don’t make each arc clearly feel like a piece of a different season with different ideas going on.
Jup. There wasnt really a strong focus in each arc, sans the ghorman one, which is why it was the highest rated. Like if you only have so limited time left, why meander so much. Shouldnt saw and his intersection with wilmon be prioritized over the gfs? Like the first one is actually relevant to the themes of andor. Like he didnt need to be on yavin or ghorman (as an massassi cell rebel)
Yeah I can’t believe they had the whole bonding speech and then we don’t see him again until he’s fine(?) and sober(?) and on Yavin(?), such a waste of an interesting idea
Woulda been a better scene if Mon had put Bail in his place with the whole, “Your escape plan for me, almost got me captured or killed”, instead of Cassian.

Thats on the sequel writers. They made the New Republic basically worse than the old republic.
Since the sequels are a thing, it is proven that they failed miserably.

Saw doesn’t take the knee.
Even when they try to paint him as an irredeemable extremist in their writing and in his speeches, he is still spitting lmao.

Yeah. If it had to be one season then you don’t try to cram all your ideas for 5 into one. Cut don’t compress.
