It has been a genocide for many decades, but a relatively slow moving one, partly because that made it easier to deny and pass off with the false pretense of being a more symmetric conflict. To anyone with eyes and a heart, it was already undeniably a genocide, though relatively slow burning, with bursts of intensification at times. However it is also undeniable that it entered a new, more extreme phase when the Entity used the October 7th uprising as an excuse to drastically ramp up their rate of mass murder as well as how open and obvious they have become with their intent to completely eradicate Gaza. Four years ago most people, even many who were generally sympathetic to Palestinians, might have been a bit hesitant to use the word genocide (even if they should have), but not anymore. Any person who sees what’s happening now and still won’t use the word has very specific interests in blatant genocide denial. And of course it was during the Biden administration that this newest phase of all out extermination started.
