This was one of the evilest pieces I’ve ever read. I genuinely don’t know where to post this. It’s an argument for extreme institutionalization and I fear is going to be the guideline.

    What unifies recovery in America are the results. Compared to Western Europe’s, our system is more expensive, has higher relapse rates and more overdoses.

    When we closed the state hospitals, we didn’t quite realize like, Oh, they are serving a purpose. These people are being safely housed here. They have food, they have care, they have shelter, all these things.
