This song sounds like dogshit. Motherfucker doesn’t even have any talent. If you’re going to do something awful like this at least make it sound good.
The ONLY white reggae I am willing to consider giving a pass to is Conga Se Menne, Finnish-American UPers who made reggae about the snow and Finnish-American mythology/culture ( or, in this particular song, they completely made it up, there is no Finnish snow god named “Hank Snow”). And even then I feel weird about it but they don’t say anything explicitly reactionary, and the music’s catchy and sounds pleasant enough on its own. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5BAgCFFGAc.
But this is also because they stay in their fucking lane, so I view it less as cultural appropriation and more as syncretism or synthesis, taking a musical style and writing about their own experience and culture in that style, and I do love musical fusions such as assorted MENA + West Asian metal by people who’re actually from there. Though even then it’s not the same because of who is taking inspiration from whom; I’m always going to feel at least a little weird about white people taking culture from people they oppress.
