Walmart uses fave tracking software to track your shoplifting and they’ll wait to prosecute until the total amount sums up to felony amount. Can get kinda risky

That’s so fucking evil, intentionally not giving the “shoplifter” a warning or threat, but waiting until they’ve stolen just enough potatoes so that it can get them serious trouble. The same fucking corporations that daily throw away an unimaginable amount of food because it wasn’t profitable enough to sell at a reasonable price.

that was a small part of it but as a proud member of n95 gang i don’t really have to worry as much about face tracking (i think??). i did always cover my tattoos and such before shoplifting for similar reasons though.

yeah i was vaguely aware that was a thing but similarly never knew if it was a real factor. just like i can’t say for sure how helpful a mask really is, though i have to assume it works to some extent. “thankfully” i actually have a p bad limp that comes and goes and affecting it to various degrees was part of my method (just in case). sort of a sidebar but i remember one of the big things i was excited for during the early days of my transition was the idea that it might help obfuscate my identity a bit

anyway stealing can honestly be kind of a lot of work! can’t beat the savings though catgirl-smug plus it’s just a lot of fun.

unfortunately as a trans women the costs of getting caught now are sort of unacceptably high so that’s another huge reason i ultimately stopped sicko-wistful

few reasons. the big stores near me started cracking down hard - cops constantly posted up outside, associates hovering around the self-checkout areas like hawks, the scanners themselves getting hyper-sensitive to even the appearance of stealing, etc. i also stopped buying semi-expensive stuff (bread etc) so it was less worth it per individual item.

i also started shopping more at some of the local asian markets and stuff and they don’t usually have self-checkouts + for the ones that do it feels pretty icky (as a white person) to be stealing from them.

yeah same. my shoplifting was completely halted when i moved to an area that has security guards patrolling the dollar store and cops in the grocer and pharmacy. incredibly fucking hostile.

they’re all already suspicious of me for wearing a mask too so it’s definitely not worth trying my luck anymore catgirl-disgust

it genuinely sucks so much ass. my favorite part is that other than guarding walmart like it’s fort knox the cops in my city seem to do sweet fuck all. not that i’m complaining, but it’s a bit thinking-about-it that it seems to be their main gig

and yeah masking is absolutely a double-edged sword, since it’s all but guaranteed to draw undue attention. love it here agony-wholesome
