Have no idea why this guy, Hassan, breadtube in general and the whole streamer niche, have such a massive following. Outside of politics, they’re just massive assholes who constantly engage in ragebait.

Because there is no organized left in the west and the only avenue left for public advocacy of unmitigated left-wing ideas in the west is independent streamers doing rage bait to make a living. It’s unfortunately yet another consequence of the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Even I, a huge nerd, get tired of like, actual serious reporting and the kind of analysis I read in the Hexbear News Megathread. The vast majority of people aren’t looking to apply the kind of rigor and effort necessary to be informed independently (in fact, that’s impossible in general, you always have to trust someone because not every issue gets covered by multiple journalists that you can cross-verify). So in general, if you want to keep up with topics in left politics, you end up having to pick your poison with these fools.

Yeah it’s not great. The worst are those large follower “news aggregator” accounts on Twitter/X. They’re honestly worse than streamers. Some of these accounts are run by just straight up propagandists who interview clowns like Scott Ritter and are run by people with the same criminal convictions as Ritter (DD Geopolitics for instance). The lower follower accounts provide much better content but the screwed up algorithm keeps them down.

Normal people have to work and have some semblance of social life, so people who consistently tweet at a high volume are either bullshitting for the sake of engagement, a team of propagandists pushing an agenda, or just some completely unhinged crank like a certain subgenre of anti-imperialist enthusiasts who thinks every large explosion is caused by tactical nukes.

With the telegrams at least it’s pretty easy to tell who is running state propaganda. When a telegram starts posting links to never before seen US Space Force documents hacked by North Korea (yes, this actually happened on a big telegram channel, Iran Observer I think), they have to have some ties. Or Fighter-bomber on telegram, who obviously is ex Russian air force

There’s not a lot of left media out there and this is what we have right now. I never really “got” chapo either. Hasan I do get.
