President Nicolás Maduro denounced the presence of eight US warships targeting Venezuela, along with 1,200 missiles and a nuclear submarine. " This constitutes the greatest threat to Latin America in its history ," he told the media on Monday, September 1, 2025.
The President reiterated that Venezuela’s response to the “maximum pressure” has been to call for national unity to guarantee sovereignty, territorial integrity, and permanent peace.
"Eight military ships with 1,200 missiles and a nuclear submarine are targeting our country. This is an extravagant, unjustifiable, immoral, and absolutely criminal threat. Faced with this maximum military pressure, we have declared maximum preparedness for the defense of Venezuela .
Maduro also described the methods used by the White House and the State Department as immoral, illegal, and contrary to the United Nations Charter.
He also compared the current situation to the Second World War, recalling that the defeat of Nazism gave rise to the UN as the guarantor of international law.
Along these lines, President Maduro expressed his criticism of unilateralism. He pointed out that the new “supremacists” seek to destroy the multilateral system, just as Hitler, Mussolini, and Nazi-fascism did with the League of Nations.
He stressed that the conscience of the Latin American people remains steadfast in the face of U.S. imperialism’s attempts to impose “maximum pressure.”
They are well prepared thanks to Iran, China and Russia that provided plenty of weapons and gear. If the US invades, they are going to experience a new painful failure as they did in Vietnam.
I really hope this time the US recognizes its defeat before killing a million people.
