Headline in normal country: “China celebrates the 80th anniversary of its victory over the Empire of Japan”

Headline in America: “Bad country shows off weapons for no reason other than to scare white people”

i watched the parade live and kinda got the impression the idea was to scare white people, is that wrong? like part of it was definitely celebrating the victory and making a statement against fascism and for peace, but then they were like look at all our nukes lol theyre long range and hypersonic :D we have so many drones :3 and lasers !!

Xi’s speech was pretty clear, the world international-community-1international-community-2 will need to make a choice between war and peaceful cooperation, and if they pick war, they won’t win.

It’s quite relieving to see, I have been a little worried that China will be willing to do anything to avoid WW3, including allowing the US to salami slice them into another century of humiliation, but it does seem like they are very clear now that they will respond to western threats and won’t back down.

In the words of Malcolm X:

I go for Mao Zedong much more than Nehru because I think that Nehru brought his country up in a beggar’s role…Though the West doesn’t love China, the West respects China. Now, the West doesn’t respect India, but it loves India
