The Rimworld community had enough arguably reactionary sentiments to fill a large pit, but this fucker had to turn the dial to 11.

Honestly you could replace ‘Rimworld’ with literally any game and I’d be like “wow i’m shocked” lol. Sorry to my modders out there but I think the average person who goes ‘I’ve got to mod this game’ is at best, a really particular nerd, and usually just a weirdo/pest.
Your average “i put big boobs on NPCs in Skyrim” modder is no different to me than your average “I just want public transport in Cities Skylines to not get congested by the stupid AI deciding everyone should board the very first train car and never board any of the others” modder, I look upon them with scorn.
Minecraft HD texture packs? Fuck off, why can’t you appreciate the vision the artists had for the game why does the water need to look realistic. (actual argument I got into once with a friend when he saw me playing without any texture pack) Don’t even ask me to install some giant ass mod-pack for a server when I know 10% of it will trivialize everything in the game and the other 90% won’t even be touched.
Launchers/add-ons that basically automate entire aspects of the game for you? (I’m looking at you Dalamud/Artisan/etc and 70% of the FFXIV PC playerbase) I think you should die.
Anyways all this to say that if there was a button to get rid of every self-professed modder on the planet, I’d smash it because the over/under on the number of sex-pests/weirdos/racists I’d wipe out versus ‘kind nerd who spent a year translating some 20 year old defunct Russian game into English’ would probably be in my favor.
I find this to be a very weird objection, being so broadly anti-mod you don’t even want unofficial bug fixes is at least a little strange.

Do you dislike games in general? What is modding, if not adding to a video game? Does this mean that video games in general are bad, or is it only ok when people make something for a game while working for a big corporation, instead of a labour of love? Sometimes people want to expand something they enjoy, like writing fan fiction, do you also despise fan fiction for the same reasons? I feel like you’d need to to be consistent here. This position seems very absurd and extreme.
