BEIJING, Sept 3 (Reuters) - When Russian President Vladimir Putin walked shoulder to shoulder with China’s President Xi Jinping on Wednesday, a hot mic caught them discussing organ transplants and the possibility that humans could live to 150 years old.

The moment came as Putin and Xi walked with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un at the head of a delegation of more than two dozen foreign leaders to view a military parade in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two.

The moment was carried on the livestream provided by state broadcaster CCTV to other media, including China-state broadcaster CGTN, AP and Reuters. China’s radio and TV administration said CCTV’s coverage of the event was viewed 1.9 billion times online and by more than 400 million on TV.

As Putin and Xi walked toward the Tiananmen rostrum where they viewed the parade with Kim, Putin’s translator could be heard saying in Chinese, “Biotechnology is continuously developing.”

The translator added, after an inaudible passage, “human organs can be continuously transplanted. The longer you live, the younger you become, and (you can) even achieve immortality.”

In response, Xi, who was off camera, can be heard responding in Chinese, “Some predict that in this century humans may live to 150 years old.”

Kim was smiling and looking in the direction of Putin and Xi, but it was not clear if the conversation was being translated for him. Putin cannot be heard speaking clearly in Russian in the CCTV clip.

The Russian government did not immediately respond to a request for comment. China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and CCTV did not immediately respond to a request from Reuters for comment.

As Xi began speaking, the video cut to a wide shot of Tiananmen Square and the audio faded.

Just over 30 seconds later, Xi, Putin and Kim reappeared on camera as they walked on the steps toward the viewing platform for the parade.

At the event, Xi told a crowd of more than 50,000 spectators the world faced a choice of “peace or war” as he inspected troops and cutting-edge military equipment, including hypersonic missiles and naval drones. Putin arrived in China on Sunday to attend a summit organized by Beijing that convened more than 20 leaders of non-Western countries, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Putin and Xi signed more than 20 agreements, ranging from energy to artificial intelligence, and agreed to build a major new gas pipeline, without announcing key details on financing or the pricing of the gas that would be sent to China.

idk if its even a weird topic tho? Theyre world leaders discussing real emerging tech that could save lives. Just because people get the heeby jeebies about organ transplants? When someone needs a new kidney they wont be so grossed out by the topic tho.

Oh I mean weird like if an acquaintance brought it up I’d be like “huh that’s weird- we normally just make small talk about the weather” - and then talk about it. Not weird like in an actual sense lol

Xi is going to harvest so many organs from smol bean Falun Gong members to become immortal. That’s why they target Falun Gong, because folks, they themselves say they have the best organs, the most big beautiful organs a-little-trolling

      Two weeks later:

trump-yassified “Falun Gong? Never heard of them. Why are you bringing up fake news like that, you’re a very bad reporter”

I really don’t know how people like this exist, they should be dying of shame. How someone can be a western “journalist” is beyond me. Just ignoring the entire reason behind the military parade and trying to frame Xi’s speech, which was about world peace and working together and trying to make it seem like warmongering. Not to mention taking a pretty standard conversation you could hear literally anywhere and trying to paint it as “sinister and evil” because the EVIL DICTATORS are talking about it.

At this point, I would honestly say western journos require just as many punches in the face as nazis.

Honestly this fear mongering makes less sense than the usual stuff. After all everyone is well aware that China and Russia are both closely aligned with the juche state of North Korea, and it’s been WELL established at this point that they have unlocked the full power of Juche Necromancy, so why would it make any sense at all for Russia and China to be talking about life extending organ transplants when they can just go to North Korea and get their usual necromantic life extension procedure done.

I swear libs can’t even keep up with what’s going on in the world and yet they expect us to take them seriously

They can’t risk becoming entirely dependent on Juche Necromancy. Doing so would surrender their immortality sovereignty to the sorcerer’s cabal in the DPRK. Nations have a right and responsibility to pursue their own paths to immortality appropriate to their material reality.

uhh did you guys even read the transcript? its actually pretty damning. i dont know what evil shit these guys are cooking up

xi: awesome how we figured out how to be immortal

putin: so true bestie and all it takes is the blood of innocent israeli babies which is why i vladimir putin funded the october 7th attacks

xi: lets not forget my friend, i provided the hang gliders

putin: very true, very true. we can split the innocent israeli baby blood, 50/50, as we are both communists

xi: excellent, not to mention as an islamist myself we believe in sharia communism so if you offered anything less we have laws that would have seen you beheaded

putin: as an islamocommunist myself i know these laws all too well and i agree with them

    xi: fuck white people! haha

    putin: haha yes!

My usual rotation is AP and Reuters (so I can pick up what stories of theirs other outlets carry verbatim); Al Jazeera; regional public radio; and community news service. If the first three agree on how to present something, it’s probably accurate, if the first two do it’s probably not but will be used as boilerplate for all others in the US uncritically
