I know a bunch of you are going to call me a lib for this. But I canvassed for Sherrod Brown through my union and got to talk to his campaign manager (at the time, the campaign manager for the most well funded Senate race in American history).
They really do see American politics as this: there is a political spectrum from left to right that all people sit somewhere on. Nonvoters are just impossible to reach, and the way you win votes as a Democrat is to appeal to Conservative values.
They don’t even really consider the possibility of using populist language to appeal to broad swathes of apolitical but discontented people, because that might alienate their candidate from the Democratic Party at large.
These fucking handmaidens of fascism need to shut the fuck up.

People like Tanden and Klein will throw anybody who isn’t them under the bus. They are going more and more mask off in their distain of anybody who wants such extreme things as reproductive rights. They know that the court would need to be packed first. So I have to assume they’ve entirely given up on restoring Roe even though they will never say that.
I really wonder how they would talk to a group of normies in a long form Q&A with unscripted, real questions like “If there are more anti-abortion democrats - how can Roe ever be reinstated as a federal law?” I don’t think Tanden and Klein can speak to real people. I think the Q&A would end abruptly halfway through because the normies might get very angry at hearing non-answers and pundit go-tos of vague dem-speak generalities. And then Tanden and Klein would leave in a huff due to the “hostile environment”.
The fact that Tanden was so opposed as Biden’s OMB pick only to be appointed to the same position as Ivanka in the White House a couple of months later to basically no fanfare has always been wild to me. Such sleazy shit that would have set the libs off just one year earlier when Trump was still president didn’t set off any bells or warrant the same level of press intrigue as the job that required Senate confirmation.
