Was listening to an old citations-needed episode recently where they mention that (as of time of recording, somewhere in 2022 IIRC) something like 95% of China never even went into lockdowns at all and people were mostly just wearing masks but otherwise living normally. Meanwhile it’s 2025 and the pandemic’s going strong here and all I can do is wear an N95 forever while hoping I don’t randomly get disabled. Death to America.

life in China during zero covid was pretty great for the most part, but i can’t imagine 95% never went into temporary lockdown or restrictions. most cities in the east had at least a few weeks or couple months here and there (mostly spring 2020 and occasionally in 21 and 22), most people experienced some kind of short lockdown i’d say. 95% of the land area, maybe

Makes sense tbh, 95% of the population would exclude just about every major city which seems unlikely. An error on their part to not specify if it was by land, which is definitely much less important.
