Harvard University announced that it has reached a settlement with Jewish students who filed a lawsuit against the institution for alleged negligence in addressing antisemitism on campus. As part of the settlement, the university will pay the students an undisclosed amount in compensation and adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which includes certain criticisms of Israel as antisemitic. Additionally, Harvard will establish a formal partnership with an Israeli university, contrary to the demands of pro-Palestinian organizations on campus.
Burn it all to the ground
The IHRA definition includes comparing ‘contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis’ or claiming that the state of Israel is a racist endeavour. Given Israel is a literal ethnostate engaged in ongoing genocide, this is obviously a wild definition.
It’d be cool if the most referenced organisations didn’t actively conflate being anti-Israeli with the very real problem of antisemitism.
