Yeah it’s shockingly prevalent. They must literally just do free association “communism bad, Putin bad, Putin want communism!” to reach that conclusion because I cannot imagine how else you come to it.
It seems to be the majority view among Russia-fearing libs, I’ve heard it for a while. I believe it mostly comes from a speech they reference from 2011ish where he mentions something like restoring the old glory of the Soviet Union, then they believe his actions since then are part of his plan to recapture the same USSR as before, a totalitarian hellhole ruled by oligarchs in their mind.
The word communism appears exactly 0 times in that article, so i guess they think that just gathering the physical remnants of the USSR means that you summon back it’s government like Exodia.
