I swear the message of many of those films were “guy ends up with the wrong crowd, enjoys the life for a time as he earns money he never dreamed of, slowly realizes the deeper he gets, the more brutal it becomes. Eventually it hurts those he loves and life comes tumbling down as the consequences pile up.”
