The title of this post is extremely misleading. Zohran’s repeated take is that the only version of Israel that has a right to exist is one that is not a supremacist state, and therefore one that is not zionist, which is why zionists get very mad at how he answers this question without falling into any rhetorical traps.

Oh awesome! I was wonder what weeks or months-old news about Mamdani would be posted today as if it just happened. Thanks!

This from the early campaign when he was in the “hidding power level” stage of cope. Its essentially trying to both sides appeal to anti-imperialists and soft zionists.

This is a bit misrepresentative of what he said. He said he believes israel has a right to exist but not as a jewish state which would mean he’s not a zionist because zionism is specifically the bleief that israel should exist as a jewish state. That being said idk why he said it like this seems like a weird thing to say. Idk why he said it like that, israel and a jewish state are partically inseperable.

This statement came up as part of the question “Where would you go after you became mayor?” and Cuomo being the first to answer said “given the hostility and the antisemitism that has been uh shown in New York, I would go to Israel.” Mamdani’s answer was, “I would stay in New York City. My plans are to address New Yorker’s across the five burrows and focus on that.” The moderator then interjected, feeling the need to give Mamdani a follow-up question, “Mr. Mamdani, can I just jump in? Would you visit Israel?” which he answered “As mayor, I will be standing up for Jewish New Yorker’s, and I’ll be meeting them wherever they are across the five burrows, whether that’s in their synagogues and temples or at their homes or at the subway platform because ultimately, we need to focus on delivering on their concerns.” which the moderator pressed “Yes or no? Do you believe in a Jewish state of Israel?” to which he responds “I believe Israel has a right to exist…” which is quickly followed up by the moderator with “Not as a Jewish state.” to which he responded “as a state with equal rights.” Cuomo has a little fit about this answer, interjecting, saying, “It has a right to exist as a Jewish state. And his answer was, no, he won’t visit Israel that’s what he was trying to say.” which, Mamdani’s final remarks were, “I believe every state should be a state of equal rights.”

So the quote in this image isn’t even accurate because it’s part of an exchange between him and the moderator.

He tends to stand up well when it comes to threats from Trump. Why does he back down and capitulate to bullying from Zionist moderators? It’s a level of cowardice that doesn’t quite fit his usual character.

The Zionist entity wants to justify the existence of Israel and will use anything necessary, from claiming to be a champion of gay rights, treating Israeli Jews as indigenous and Zionism as a “decolonization” project, to pretending to believe in equal rights to do so. Arguing for egalitarianism, advocating a two-state non-solution, or even recognizing Palestine doesn’t on its own fundamentally challenge Israel as a colonization project and is better used to sanitize it.

Regardless, I don’t necessarily think Mamdani is “in” with the Zionists (that would better describe Cuomo), I simply think that he allows Zionists to control the narrative too easily.

The Zionist entity wants to exist. If that means maintaining economic control while giving “equal rights” to its native population, it will do that, just as America and South Africa were forced to give nominal legal equality to their minority populations. Would an Israel that’s identical to today but with a constitution enshrining equality be accepted by the Palestinians? I doubt it

I’m sure he is actually an anti-Zionist, but the American political climate will not allow him to say such things, which frankly is demonstrative of the futility of making systemic changes through electoralism.

Criticize Mamdani for bad takes all you want there’s plenty of that. But by that logic Bolsheviks were Tsarists (they had openly tsarist bureaucrats in their administration). You’re just reaching for any confirmation of your pre-held belief.
