The situation wasn’t likely sustainable and this shows just the power of the west still. That even if you resist them and hold out for a while unless you’ve gone to extremes like Cuba or the DPRK to be self-sufficient they’ll crush you with sanctions over time even if it takes a decade, they’ll patiently grind you down and then exploit the desperation they find to buy agents within your midst.
