pls give me anti goverment superman james gun
Next superman film better start with superman decapitating wonder woman
They should just give me like a billion dollars so i can make my superman trilogy idea real. I’ve got the broader details figured out, it would span the entire 20th century. Basically he goes from Smallville to Golden age beating up crooked landlords and kkk guys to being used for spying and propaganda in ww2 since he won’t get directly involved. After the atomic bomb goes off he defects to the Soviet union and focuses on reconstruction and just general domestic projects kinda stuff and MAD keeping things from going hot prevents him from getting at all involved in any kinda conflict cause he can’t stop every nuke if they’re all launched at once. Let Luthor becomes president somewhere around this time, he’s Reagan in this so let’s just say it’s the early 80s. Superman eventually goes all Quest for Peace mode and gathers all the world’s nukes and hurls them into the sun. Resulting radiation stuff gives him Krypton Cancer and then what is essentially All Star Superman plays out. I’ve got things more filled in than that but that’s the general idea. Superman is essentially the Christopher Reeves one, not a bad bone in his body and his thing is trying to find a place in a world not made for him without fucking it up, his need to help people and his just being way too powerful to exercise his utility without causing humanity to kill each other off. He’s still out there saving cats from trees and stuff and maintains a general optimism but is just in a century long awkward situation geopolitically to be Superman. There’s a whole Clark Kent side of the story, Luthor’s parallel arc. It’d be 3 movies of about 2 and a half hours if my dreams came true. I’m not a big Superman Guy but I love the idea of What if the Nicest Guy Ever Was Also The Most Powerful Guy Ever? And that it would be a lot more complicated than it seems. This whole sprawling epic falls apart if superman is ever grimdark during. He’s Superman, and he wants to do the most good he can without imposing his will on people and being an alien invader
I like the sound of it. It would blow people’s minds if he defected to the Soviet Union, though lol.
As posted already there’s a comic called Red Son which is Iib af but still a good read anyway where superman lands in the user instead of America. I’m very inspired by that comic for the second movie and it’ll go down easier for audiences causes there’s a comic about it, even though I’d say thr difference between willingly defecting and crash landing there as a baby means quite a lot, nerds would just notice I’m tsking notes from a really popular superman comic. Even just being a Soviet worker means he can just like…really throw down hard on the each according to their ability each according to their needs things. He kinda throws that ratio wayyyyy off and the soviets becoming a rapidly advancing workers republic internally by just having superman putting up apartment buildings in 3 minutes means Soviet superman causes greater international tension just by helping the people cause America is gonna go harder on the cold war as a consequence. He’s just fucked no matter what and he considers himself a guest on this planet and can fly anywhere pretty much instantly, he’s a global view guy in a regional world. I don’t understand how other people haven’t latched on to this angle and really went with it

It’s so absurd that he ends global poverty, hunger, makes sure every single person on the planet is fulfilled and doing well, entirely peacefully, he doesn’t conquer or invade a single country, and the comic depicts this as a bad thing because “muh freedoms!”
It’s written by Mark Millar who’s a complete hack.
I thought that was Frank Millar who was the hack?
Though tbh, hack and comic book writer are kind of synonymous.
Frank Miller:
, writes weird fascist stuff about Batman.
Mark Millar:
, writes cringy edgelord garbage.
It sounds silly but I’ll probably add it to my comic reading list anyway.
It is one of the better superman stories for what it’s worth. Go in expecting extremely lib depictions of Stalin, the USSR and communism and you should be alright.
If you take it as it is, it’s a really fun read.
Superman: Red Son
In all fairness he crashes there in the first place in that comic, he doesn’t become disgusted with America and willingly defect.
Forgot about that one. Haven’t read it yet.
It’s lib but taken as it’s own thing it’s a fun read
I want my Superman to wail on wifebeaters and seal crooked businessmen in their own mines
Truth, Justice and Peace for all mankind used to mean something
Sounds like you desire Absolute Superman.
Thanks for the rec, just started and it opens directly on class conflict and turns the big chest S from the emblem of a noble house to the symbol of the working class.
I’m caught up on a few of the Absolutes and now I’ll do Superman. Wonder Woman and Batman have been crazy so far, very fresh takes.
I was worried about this one going into brainiac so soon after I watched Harley Quinn, but I like what they’re doing with it.
I still havent read the last issue, thanks for reminding me
