Yeah for sure. But tbh deprogramming me was very easy because I was very open to the message, I just hadn’t encountered it before anywhere else. I didn’t first join hexbear when I came to lemmy, I started at a feddit instance and saw .worlders talking about the scary hexbear tankies and my immediate thought was that those hexbears sound pretty cool if they can scare libs so badly.
Then I read some stuff here about China and the Ukraine war that I didn’t know yet and it made sense that the media would lie about ‘enemy states’. Before I did not understand geopolitics at all because countries like China, Russia and Iran being inherently evil just didn’t make sense to me. Shouts outs to the news mega for educating me (I still have lots to learn).
Oh noes, someone dropped Western chauvinism in my local activist movement. I don’t get how supposed anticapitalists still believe in so called ‘Western values’.
They must not have a space like hexbear to deprogram them. Joining hexbear was great for my political development. Before I only read the news from Western mainstream media and hexbear basically showed me a lot of things that were omitted in the stories from these media.
I believe what you’re saying but my insecure heart is not ready to accept it :)
I’ve had 2 recent experiences where I felt like a gay guy was flirting with me and there’s no way that’s actually what was happening because I don’t really look like a guy yet. It does make me excited for the future though
I’m really lucky that I live in a progressive area and even if people mostly bring up trans rights stuff to virtue signal it’s still infinitely better than speaking with transphobes.
When random people I don’t know well bring up trans rights stuff while talking to me I’m always a bit suspicious that they clocked me and that that’s why they brought it up.
It’s irrelevant. No historical claim to a land justifies genocide or ethnic cleansing.
I know it’s not exactly the same but isn’t it really similar? To me it just shows that if the substance is available in reliable dosage with a doctor to give advice on how much to take for it to be beneficial then it’s not a problematic thing at all.
On the amazon uk website it says that egift cards are currently unavailable, is there another semi trustworthy place to buy them without crypto?
Can’t say I’d recommend the journey. It’s better to avoid being eaten by a frog.
The Iran explosion made me think of this: I’ve heard Lebanese people say the Beirut explosion is rumoured to be done by Israel, is there anything written about that possibility?
In The Netherlands the tide regarding Palestine is changing a bit (slowly though). Several cities are calling the genocide by its name and pressuring the government to stop supporting Israel. Also in a few cities student encampments have been set up again and this time more universities didn’t react by immediately calling the cops and are actually doing tiny concessions. The concessions are obviously not enough and purely symbolic but it’s a noticeable difference compared to last year where they didn’t engage in any conversation and implied that the protests are purely antisemitic.
