Yeah I’m just kind of shocked that there apparently isn’t any evidence of federal coordination of a nation wide violent police response. It’s a lot easier for me to accept “The feds helped/coordinated/did it” than believing a bunch of useless uni admins pulled together effective national scale police repression without help, especially given the enormous number of mechanisms that have been built up since 9/11 for exactly this kind of wide-spread repression.

The way star wars is is that there’s a good one (a new hope) and then there’s a gooder and more militant one (Empire) and then there is a later gooder and even more militant one (Revenge) and then an even more militant one (Rogue One) and then a most militant one where John Star War looks directly in to the camera and says “Go outside and shoot a police officer with a light saber”.

They’ll still torture you. Part of the point of torture is outright terrorism. It’s one thing to die for the cause, even die horribly, but torture is different. Another part is - They just write down all the shit you say and cross reference with what other torture victims and intel sources have said. It doesn’t matter if it’s 99% bullshit, they think, because if three different guys say the same thing under torture then that’s something they’ll follow up on. The torturers don’t really care that it’s useless and tghat even in the very very rare times where it is useful it’d be a lot easier and more reliable to just be friendly and ask for information.
