  • Zionism was considered a fringe movement prior to the Holocaust, the prevailing attitude was towards the Labor Bund, socialism, or liberalism. But because there was a sizable population, following, and political, economic support for establishing an “Ulster” in the Levant, Zionism was permitted and sustained by Western capital and empire.

The war, the genocide, eradicated much of the Jewish socialists and traumatized the survivors into believing the antisemitic beliefs that Jews, despite being native to their European states for centuries, were always strangers - and the strangers should go back to their ancestral homeland: Palestine.

Zionism, as a living coping mechanism for centuries of abuse during Diaspora, indulged in these twisted fantasies in order to free the Jewish people from their oppressors and threat of annihilation. Zionism professes itself as the agent of Jewish self-determination, but while the Israeli government drives the car, Europe and the US pave and path the road, supply the gasoline, and act as their mechanics.

There is so much institutional and ideological saturation of Zionism within Jewish institutions that make it very challenging to be liberated from; however the brazen and constant barrage of Israeli politicians, media figures, IDF troops, and the Palestinians crying out for help through their own broadcast of the starvation and genocide is deepening a rejection of Zionism.

  • It seems people feel betrayed by her and her platforming of liberal Zionism, but Natalie has shown herself to be a liberal since the inception of her channel and rise to fame. Her presentation was interesting - perhaps deradicalizing - during the early/mid Trump administration in 2017-19, since fascist politics, aesthetics, and culture were brazenly becoming normalized by the likes of the New York Times, the internet, and media at large.

But her time has past, no? Sure she still makes a very lucrative existence but her celebrity is very niche and echo chamber-y of people who are unwilling to challenge society to begin with.

I suppose this post by Natalie is a useful anecdote of evidence for the examination of liberal fetishism of respectability politics.

Ultimately this appeals to those who are unwilling and incapable of doing anything helpful for Palestine; it seems her supporters aren’t activists to begin with but passive consumers of the likes of r/neoliberal waiting to be pacified and reassured that the status quo of their privileged section of humanity is still extant.

  • I don’t mean to sound dismissive, but I recall her time in the sun was during 2017/18, and was mostly famous for deradicalizing fascists.

If Covid-19 and the million deaths was not the turning point for Zoomers to disavowing neoliberal politics and economics, then certainly the genocide in Gaza was. Her videos are talented for Youtube, but are those videos really as entertaining or interesting as you recall them to be? Is it anything else other than to recycle talking points that the state of the world is good because the alternatives are bad.

  • a comment of someone on r/JewsOfConscience: https://www.reddit.com/r/JewsOfConscience/comments/1lcm3um/cnn_jun_15_2025_israel_underestimated_irans/

"Listen, I try to be realistic here, there is no evidence of a significant re-grouping, Trita Parsi is known for drinking a lot of Kool-Aid. Israel checkmated Iran, there is no need to live in a fantasy world.

Forget about the nuclear program, it’s a sideshow (the US will drop a bunker buster into the Fordow facility sooner or later), the reality is much worse…

They took out all air defence systems to establish air superiority, then they assasinated Iran’s military leadership and the whole country is infiltrated by Mossad collaborators actings as Israel’s eyes on the ground.

That’s what will happen next: Iran will exhaust their remaining ballistic missiles (~1000 left), then they’ll switch to their small stockpile of new hypersonic BM with bigger warheads, as well as cruise missiles. (Israel fully calculated this limited and acceptable retaliation into their war plans, including the closing of the Strait of Hormuz or an attack on Saudi oil fields)

Since Israel established full air superiority, they’ll be able to shoot down any BM after it’s launch inside Iran and immediately destroy the launcher too.

After this phase is over, they’ll assasinate the Ayatollah and go into waiting mode. People say he will simply get replaced, maybe even by a military leader, but they don’t understand that Israel created a similar situation to Lebanon with Hezbollah. The new leader will immediately be assasinated too and Iran will be either turned into a headless zombie state or they’ll be forced to capitulate to Israel’s demands."

  • I’m kind of worried that Israel will use nuclear weapons against Iran when unable to really deal with this onslaught. Despite people feeling a sense of vindication seeing Israel suffer a fraction of the terror they inflicted upon Gaza and the Palestinian people, this is plunging Israel into a sense of desperation and despair, especially since Israel cut off the exits for its population to flee via its airport.

While I do imagine that Israelis with means will be leaving through Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, or Cyprus, the rest of the population won’t pressure the government to surrender or stop the war, but to escalate. Israel only knows escalation and there is a risk of nuclear escalation.
