On the contrary, every kind of ideology—left, right, liberal, nationalist, progressive, reactionary, and even the most niche or specialized—has a significant following in China. In fact, ideological debates on various social media platforms have been particularly intense in recent years. What makes China unique is the Communist Party’s system of democratic centralism, which leaves no room for ideological agitators.
