Ukraine isn’t going to lose everything though? Current offer being talked about is Ukraine withdraws from the parts of Donetsk oblast not currently under Russian control, and the frontline is frozen elsewhere. Even if Russia pursues their current maximalist demands of putting Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia under full Russian control, that’s still a far cry from the initial war goals of demilitirisation and denazification, and the terms that were discussed at Istanbul where Ukraine was set to be limited to a standing army of less than 100 000 members, a handful of attack helicopters, and no long range rocket artillery or missiles. Yes Ukraine would have had more territory under the Istanbul deal, but their military power would’ve been almost non existent.
