    I mean it doesn’t look good when a Philippines coast guard vessel essentially gets a “maneuver kill” on a Chinese Navy destroyer and Chinese coast guard vessel, with both Chinese ships colliding into each other while chasing down the Philippines ship. That’s an embarrassing mistake that is on China, of course redditors are going to use the opportunity to gloat even if it’s not grounded in facts. We’d do the same if two US Navy ships collided.

      Filipinos are the backbone of international shipping. Highly experienced sailors and shouldn’t be underestimated.

      Yes, China could still take the Phillipines (they are also very aware of this) but on average I think captains of Filipino ships are likely to be better skilled than their Chinese counterparts.
