Fly it into his ear and play Mao’s Little Red Audiobook when he sleeps. Soon, chairman Trump will be a reality.

I dont see any reason these couldn’t be used as a horrifyingly effective weapon too. Something this small? It could fly right into a nostril or ear canal, and detonate. Or deliver toxins. Im glad China has it and not the US.

Pray that the US does not get their hands on or replicate this technology, or that’s probably exactly what it will do.

Give it a poison payload and a stinger. You’ve got the Hunter Seeker drone from Dune.

I have some really important information:

Dengue fever and chagas are transmitted by chinese microdrones!!!

10000% sure that at least RFK Jr will say something like that in the near future.

I mean we can all have an argument about China or whatever but for me this technology existing is terrifying lol. History has proven time and time again that almost every single scientific/technological leap will be used for evil. This is especially true under totalised world capitalism. Black powder, the sextant, splitting the atom, the internet, I could go on and on.

Regardless of what you think of china, if they have this I’m sure it’s something within reach of the West at some stage. And will be iterated on. The idea of swarms of bug-sized drones flying around doing god knows what at the direction of the most evil states imaginable, potentially weaponised, terrifies me tbh.

as a counterpoint, every technological advancement also had a way to render that advancement obsolete. remember those big metal balls the chinese government specifically made to target protestors? everyone who i told about those things lost their shit saying “oh no oh fuck CHINA IS GOING TO KILL US ALL!!!” and then something happened and those balls never saw the light of day again. apparently they were practically useless in an actual protest because it needed to be operated by another cop so that it doesn’t kill itself, plus its motors kept breaking and the protestors stole them instead i-cant

my cope for this specific thing is that it’s too small to be reliably mass produced without half of them being unusable, and that they’re so similar to actual mozzies that birds might actually start eating them lmao. they also seem kind of useless for anything in particular: audio and video bugs aren’t a new thing and mass producing a whole new tool just for it to cover a pre-filled niche is kind of dumb. people always choose the path of least resistance; what’s the point of making these wastes of metal for something that can be done just by using a drone or some shit?

I think the cold war (lasted until 1991) was all about gigantic very expensive weapon systems: long range, tons of weight, very high unit costs. Offensive in nature. This one will be about cheap, short ranged shit that is mass produced.

If that wire is thinner than a hair, and has high bandwith, well. But these small devices can not carry a giant spool of that around, so it will need to be prepared for ambush missions I suppose.
