I remember my highschool us history teacher said that bush stole the 2000 election, but that it was a good thing because if gore would have won he could step on a plane in DC and fly to California and not fly over a single state that he won.
He also said the electoral college was good because without it politicians would only campaign in the most populous states and completely ignore the rest of the country, which pretty much already happens but with swing states
