Starting February 2026, Microsoft Authenticator will block Entra credentials on jailbroken/rooted iOS and Android devices through a phased rollout: warning, blocking, then wiping credentials. This security feature requires no admin setup. Users on compliant devices remain unaffected. Organizations should notify users and update documentation accordingly.

I really think we need a :microsoft-cool: emoji

There are linux smartphones, like the Pinephone for example. However, they’re a very niche market, and don’t have a lot of native apps (or developer support for said apps). So, their uses are pretty limited. I bought a pinephone a few years back and it never really worked properly - I found out that you had to flash the modem firmware (?) and I ran into a bunch of errors trying to do that. Plus half the time the fuckin thing wouldn’t come out of sleep mode lol. So I just bought an old skool flip phone instead, it works like a charm.

Ive looked into Linux phones every once in a while. Theyre still too experimental for me to be an adopter. I need them to be to the point where I can go to the ATT store or the Verizon store and pick up a Linux phone. That level of adoption. The current stuff is sorta underwhelming too. And I dont need a phone thats cutting edge. But it just sorta seems like every linux phone is a compromise of some sort. Some are lacking storage. Some are lacking a decent camera. Some are lacking application support. Some are lacking decent data transmission speed b/c all they can get are garbage cell modems. Whatever it is, some combination of stuff like that keeps me off a linux phone for now. I need a phone for work with all the things, more or less. I do use linux too, which I guess it makes it odd to complain about linux on a phone. And I also understand that those things im bellyaching about wont get better until more people adopt it so I need to buy it, but I just cant.

Anyway thanks for coming to phonetalk
