So in the state I recently moved to, apparently amazon will not ship any kind of actual medical grade needles on the site due to some legal nonsense.
Many of you who have bought needles off of amazon are probably familiar with the large amount of sterile “lab grade” or “vet grade” needles on the website (some of you are probably already using them). My question is, as long as its sterile, does it actually matter?
I assume that the difference is just a certification? If not it’s very concerning reading the comments on amazon of so many people using them for testosterone.
Will Livingstone ship directly?
In terms of safety basically you want to know how they’re steralised and when it expires. If they’re not saying that then they’re not clean.
If they’re sterile then needles are needles
I’ve not checked Livingstone, but I did some digging and pretty much every medical site says it won’t ship needles to my state.
The needles I did find are sterilized via E.O Gas and do have an expiration date. That bit of information was very helpful and I’ll remember that in the future.
The only other thing I’ve considered is that potentially the needles are not surgical steel? But I don’t have any particularly bad metal sensitivities either way.
Hypodermics are used in such large numbers and so trivial to manufacture that it would be impressive to set up another manufacturing line with inferior materials.
Sounds like they’re probably fine. Injecting is really just about cleanliness, given you’re bypassing the body’s major defence against pathogens. As long as you use sterile tools and technique it’s not overall very risky, it’s just that it’s dramatically more risky than other ways of taking medication.
My dog had medical grade ones he didn’t need anymore, so I used those when I was starting out. I know that isn’t what you asked, but I honestly can’t imagine they’d be any different.
So, idk any research or anything, but i used vet needles intended for dog insulin for over a year with no issues.
