I should get back into The Expanse.
I literally stopped watching halfway through the finale episode of the series.
I didn’t want it to end, so it didnt
I call it media separation anxiety
scrolled past this, processed it, scrolled back up, upvoted
Oooh the show is great but the books are even better.
That’s interesting. I heard the show was good, so started reading the books, and stopped after one cause the characters were so annoying.
I think they definitely improve from the first book. They have great politics and they’re kind of structured like 3 trilogies. Try 2 and 3 if you want a decently satisfying conclusion without committing to more. The break between 6 and 7 is much more clear, and the reason the show ends at book 6.
I do this with video games too
And then rediscover the show several years later, have forgotten all the plot so I have to start watching over from the beginning, stop watching 75% of the way through, repeat ad nauseam.
I used to do this and then I realized I just don’t really like watching TV shows. So I stopped. And life is better.
I don’t want to rewatch an episode and don’t want to miss anything, but I’ve forgotten where I was up to. Quite the bind
So hard for me to even make it through the first episode these days. I’m glad to see a lot of new sci-fi being popular but most of it is so boring.
Hatewatching shows i already know I’m going to hate in the second monitor if my computer.
Yeah I did that with house of dragons, severance season 2 and the latest season of squid game. Sometimes it’s just too hard to commit to a show and to choose random YouTube videos instead 🥲

I do the same things with games. I suspect it allows me to fantasise about it for longer, since i binge everything and it allows me to not conclude it’s experience by ending the show/game/book.
