The neoliberal subreddit is a true wellspring of comedy. Nowhere else on the Internet do you see such an awkward coexistence between incredulous radlibs and actual genuine fascists.

Oh no, the neoliberal subreddit is a special layer of hell. Many of the other subs at least pretend to have shame, or have to be astroturfed into being lib-fash. The neolib sub is the authentic product of which the other subs are mere counterfeits.

i tried to get banned during the blackout protests by intentionally breaking rules because i didn’t believe that i could stay away at the time, but they wouldn’t ban me; go figure.

the only place that’s banned me on social media is the star trek lemmy instance and even then only to their most active communities; i wish i could understand why/how i have this ability so i can wield it to my benefit. lol

I had acquired a stalker that was very upset I would tell people that Vaush had threatened to SA a woman and looked at CP, so they kept reporting me for saying that when the revolution comes everyone with a K-On profile pic gets the wall because there’s a 99% chance they’re neo nazis. After the second temp ban I figured it was time to go.

Reddit stalkers are so weird, ages ago I had some guy from the Joe Rogan subreddit who would follow me around replying to my posts on hobby subreddits about how I’m a Communist and no one would give a shit lmao

This guy trawled through literally years of my posts and comments trying to find things to take out of context and made a master list of links, I assume to teach me a lesson about how his wholesome debate bro streamer was being unfairly maligned and would post it whenever I commented on something.

There’s two main kinds of liberals.

The first, who are just clueless moralists and never think of politics, only in vibes… and what’s best for their wallet (the main enemy, taxes and people who don’t work according to their standards of work ethics.)

The second one, is aware of how capital works and what it leads to. They support it. With the necessary ruthlessness.

r/neoliberal is the personal subreddit of a Victorian era capitalist, ready to participate in the partition of Africa. Not lassiez-Faire like the libertarians or other chuds. Except if that faction is strong and the winds are blowing favorably. Otherwise, any form of capital will do, as long as it flows faster.

we’re not actually like Thatcher we’re just ironically neoliberals… Because we don’t want to admit how much we like Thatcher

Them anytime I questioned how they could be a neoliberal. Especially after they being high and mighty about something incredibly terrible a neoliberal had done

I remember a post on the neoliberal subreddit where they counter-posted against republicans celebrating their ‘peace’ candidate by posting a pic of a muscular chad with words including stuff about ‘yeah we’ll do wars’, and ‘yeah we fund the CIA and USAID’

I’d say it was FBI/CIA propaganda but honestly they ARE contrarian to such a stupid degree

It’s so stupid that they think their contrarianism is edgy or “based” when it’s literally the most mainstream, head empty positions possible. Yeah dude, the people in power are smarter than us and they know better! They know better than me!

I don’t think they are even contrairian. The dem base is split between radlibs and neolibs, and each camp does have some internal coherence, but both camps have the complete opposite view from each other (pro-war vs anti-war, pro-market vs anti-markets, pro-state vs anti-state).

Depending on what part of the base you are talking to, that meme might be entirely ironic or unironic.

It’s so interesting how these neolib types jive with the radlib types and it’s always just unclear how ironic they all are being. It’s like if we allowed Nazis to post on Hexbear and Lemmygrad but they have to be ironic, then we’d also post the same things alongside them but also under the veil of irony. Like, dude, you realize you’re endorsing views that are (at least supposedly) diametrically opposed to your own, right? How do “progressive” radlibs find themselves in spaces like NCD where they’re making light of genocide, ironically, while the dude next to them is doing it straight faced?

I think it’s the “more perfect union” mindset. Radlibs might desire some progressive/left outcomes, but they see it as part of this reform narrative where the reactionary elements of the American project keep falling off over time (emancipation, women’s suffrage, end of Jim Crow, gay marriage, etc). So imperialism and genocide can be treated lightheartedly because they see it as a temporary embarrassment that progress and reform will eventually eradicate. Whereas the neolibs are lighthearted about it because they fundamentally don’t see it as a problem.

I don’t know honestly. I remember that pro-war libs basically radicalised me out of liberalism. Watching young radlibs stand side by side with well off neolibs is genuinely disheartening. The elderly libs are burning away the younger libs’ futures as if they were firewood.

It’s all about having common enemies, imo, plus similar cultural signifiers. They’re both in the “blue tribe” and whatever views someone might have about “political” things like war, it’s just a difference of opinion.

What I mean by “political” is that most people have a certain set of values that they’ll say, “shouldn’t even be political,” and you can generally tell almost everything about a person’s politics by what they put in that category. The neolibs and radlibs place things like LGBT rights in that category, but slaughtering a bunch of foreigners, well, that’s a complicated foreign policy debate where reasonable people can disagree. Plus, I mean, they’re radlibs, so they’re probably gonna see eye-to-eye with neolibs on Ukraine, for example.

awkward coexistence between incredulous radlibs and actual genuine fascists

If there are 9 fascists sitting at a dinner table with 2 radlibs who do not denounce them, there are 11 fascists in total.
