I know that there are a lot of trans people on hexbear, and I know their beliefs are sincere. What I don’t understand is how they square the fact that they would be brutally suppressed, r*****, tortured, murdered by the very groups/governments they unwaveringly love and support. It sickens me. Is it a manifestation of self-hatred? I just don’t get why they would degrade themselves like this.

    neat caught-in-4che

there have been situations where gays have been pressured into transition in iran, afaik that is true. but its not nearly as widespread as this claim makes it seem, and this particular claim is meant to downplay the improvement to life of transgender people, as Iran has provided transgender surgeries to much of the middle east’s transgender population (who can afford it). downplaying the tangible improvement to the quality of life of trans people is patently transphobia.

and shipping homeless trans people out of sight in china? yeah ok whatever raiden-source the closest thing ive heard to that is being deported back to your home province (china has internal passports to preserve culture and language) if you lose your visa to live in a particular place. they always make sure you have a place to live in this situation. the absolute worst ive heard is from a trans person who got deported back to their hometown and had to live with their parents for a bit (they have to take you in), and what this trans person did is apply for a plot of land (free) so they could build their own house

downplaying the tangible improvement to the quality of life of trans people is patently transphobia.

In this case, I think it’s being a bad supporter of trans liberation because it undermines understanding of how conditions can improve, but ideologically I think this is more Islamophobia than anything in this specific case.

There are issues with China’s system, mostly having to do with you “having a home” legally but it’s a place where it isn’t viable to live (e.g. due to abuse or you’re seeking a job elsewhere). I think that “shuffling the homeless off” by giving them fucking homes is not the own on China that they think it is.
