I know that there are a lot of trans people on hexbear, and I know their beliefs are sincere. What I don’t understand is how they square the fact that they would be brutally suppressed, r*****, tortured, murdered by the very groups/governments they unwaveringly love and support. It sickens me. Is it a manifestation of self-hatred? I just don’t get why they would degrade themselves like this.
This isn’t exactly true, there’s been a lot more than economic policy in Xinjiang to curb fundamentalism. As a counterexample, Estonia was the most developed, wealthiest and most industrialised USSR republic and it was still a hotbed of anti-russian nationalism.
Of course it’s not the only reason, however the region was negelected after the crazy years since opening up in the west, it’s why it was targeted by America. Once they started investing in the region and re-educating radicals and getting rid of ETIM influence, the region has become as safe as anywhere else in China.
