I can often justify buying nice things if it’s of high quality. I still own and use most of the nice things I’ve ever bought. What also helps is to have a relatively cheap taste. I think my 18 year old pickup truck is pretty damn nice.

6·30 days agoLiving in a two-story house is such a blessing - the stairs make perfect shelves for clothes. There’s a workout-clothes stair, an indoor-clothes stair, an outdoor-clothes stair, and let’s not forget the laundry stair, from where I (in theory) move dirty clothes up to the basket as I go upstairs, as well as the clean-clothes stair, from where I (in theory) move them back to the closet which is also upstairs.
It’s not a sensory issue - I just like wearing socks. Not everything needs to be pathologized.
Finances is one of the few thing I don’t need to worry about.
I still do though.
Other than getting access to medication, I’ve personally never quite understood what difference a diagnosis makes. Having an ADHD diagnosis is an explanation, not excuse. My dishes will remain undone independent of whether it’s due to laziness or executive dysfunction. What matters is what is, not why it is.
