Fuck, that cuts to the core of it. Like how the writings of Stalin and Hitler are “equally” (not equally) considered to be some kind of cursed tome that will posess you if you even try to understand it instead of just…some writing. They really do think that communist literature is some kind of chaos artifact with the power to bend minds and reality, because the alternative would be realizing that they live in a constructed reality that is easily refuted, and they’re far too smug for that. Even if China is 100% the dystopian nightmare that they say it is, it’s not committing genocide, it’s not part of the same community of nations that have been doing imperialism for 200 years, and it’s something that we have any voice in unlike the West where we can make our own leaders’ lives uncomfortable for helping a genocide.
