Aparently Denys Pilash is the offical “but I’m a socialist” owl-wink for the war efforts, and my Anarchist friend volunteered for the totally not fascist army and got got by those Ruskies!

Crazy that there are self-proclaimed anarchists signing up for that shit. Like, it’s the ultimate proof of how divorced modern anarchism (mostly just punk-rock subculture) is from historical anarchism

The comment section is very telling. Most clips from the majority report have a pretty active community response but this clip is all bots, and a few people calling this out. But most of the audience is just skipping it

Russia is busting down doors stripping young men naked, kidnapping them, and forcing them onto the front lines in a hopeless war where they show up home in a body bag a month later. This authoritarianism must end.

        Wait nvm that’s Ukraine mb

show up home in a body bag a month later.

More like reported as MIA or AWOL instead so the state doesn’t have to admit casualties or pay out compensation to the family

hush hush, silly leftist, ukraine might be kidnapping elderly people off the streets to feed them into artillery and drone woodchippers, but freedom demands this! They have no choice because the Russian army is rife with nazis, they have entire neo-nazi brigades who push anyone not ideologically fascist to the front lines to be meat shields. Hell, any picture of the Russian army will have Nazi patches and tattoos visible.

I am being handed a note, one moment. Oh, no, no - this is terrible. This note says all that stuff is Ukrainian, not Russian. Oh no liberalism

Majority report are liberals, Sam Seder supports the existence of Israel (he also uses the “I support democracy and human rights” trick to get out of calling for its destruction, at best hoping for a South Africa situation) and refuses to identify as an antizionist

I have a soft spot for the Majority Report libs. I like watching their stuff, but if Ukraine comes up I immediately turn it off. They have no idea what they’re talking about and its painful to see people who should know better not. But of course, libs are gonna lib shrug-outta-hecks

i dont quite get how these people who generally come to the right conclusions on other issues miss the mark so hard on russia/ukraine

is it just that the anti russia propaganda is THAT strong?

or maybe just the pro ukraine propaganda being so pervasive?

maybe even just not wanting to say ukraine is also bad, because right wingers like russia?

for me, and i think most leftists, the position is they both suck and neither should be getting our support but that ukraine is a US proxy so by default we hav to give critical support (as in, support with criticism) to russia and only to say the US should not be funding ukraine as a proxy to fight against russia

i think that position makes the most sense. you’re not taking a side even. just saying both suck and we shouldnt be funding either of them, and it points out that “US SUPPORT” In ukraine is just an illusion when the only thing the US supports is attacking russia through ukraine

thats funny. also very braindead. centrism is “its all the same” and thats the extent of your analysis. if you have actual reason to not “pick a side” thats not centrism. and in the case of russia/ukrain you arent meeting in the middle of anything. you’re taking a third position outside of the generally accepted conversation

This is why being an actual Marxist and not a “leftist” is so important. “Leftists” can have the right takes on a lot of issues but they don’t understand why with materialism, it’s all vibes which can get you a lot of the way if you aren’t a piece of shit but it can’t get you the whole way. Being smart and charming and empathetic is nice and better than being a chud but it doesn’t mean you understand things. In the end you either reject idealism or you become a victim of it
