Obviously delete this if against the rules for being too cool.
The average person would do more Cool Stuff if they didn’t think they would be caught. Asking for a friend of course.
Can my friend put grease on a disposable glove and smother cameras and sensors then dispose the glove at their home or otherwise away from the site of coolness?
A net/mesh around one of the wheels that’s dropped on it while passing by?
Let’s assume they would have their phone on them as well. Would a VPN protect them? Or just leave at home / farraday cage bag?
Bonus points if the person could be carrying around the materials and a mask/sunglasses to lessen facial ID etc. and wouldn’t have to do much more than turn on a vpn to obfuscate things the spy in their pocket could narc on. The less friction the better
Let’s assume they would have their phone on me as well. Would a VPN protect them?

VPNs operate on layer 3 of the OSI model. The “physical” connection between your… friend’s phone and the service provider is layers 1 (radio) and 2 (4G/5G/LTE/whatever). The phone company knows who’s phone is connected and sending traffic to which tower (and how much traffic, when). They know the traffic is going to a VPN service (based on the protocol + publicly known address of the destination). They just don’t know the contents or the final destination of the traffic beyond the VPN service.
The information they have from layer 2 (signal strength at multiple towers, IMEI, SIM) is enough to identify the device, the subscriber and triangulate the source of the signal to a neighborhood. It may not be as precise as GPS, but it is enough to blow up an alibi or strengthen the case for a warrant.
If a phone is within 2000 feet of a crime scene, that might not be enough (under liberal democracy rules), but if a phone is always within 2000 feet of a series of intermittant crimes over the span of months, the owner is going to be the #1 suspect, and the police are going to seize it.
Let’s assume they would have their phone on me as well. Would a VPN protect them?
No
Or just leave at home
Yes
farraday cage bag?
In theory yes but I wouldn’t rely on it
Don’t bring your phone
Also, this is just adventurism. I don’t think it’ll help anyone, or help further any goals.
Also, this is just adventurism. I don’t think it’ll help anyone
not if OP’s friend is hungry and needs to feed themself
agree about not bringing the phone though
Tbh it didn’t really sound like they were going to take anything from the robot, just disable it
what is the end goal here of disabling a food delivery robot
impress neo luddite bf
I just feel like it’s kind of an eh I get what the intent is but like, it’s a robot delivering food to someone so that kinda harms them unless you let it deliver it before disabling it, then it’s just kinda petty property damage on uber eats? I guess there’s the component of disabling its cameras but like unless there’s a secondary purpose (don’t explain if there is, duh) after that then it’s like, you’re just doing a crime you might go to jail for for little to no real gain unless your bf is a super duper hotty and this is like His Thing
i would do more calculus on the crime to punishment ratio and maybe do a different crime but that’s just me, someone who doesn’t do any crime whatsoever officer
Hack the planet
if you friend wears a mask, leaves their phone at home, and does something that seriously inhibits the robot without damaging it I really can’t imagine anything happening to your friend (I could be wrong tho)
Like is robot assault a crime if the property isn’t damaged?
For every cautions robot inhibitor there’s 3-5 people dumping rental scooters in the river.
“Your friend” could try expanding foam insulation maybe? Just a thought
EDIT: Or just regular spray paint on the cameras, come to think of it.
EDIT2: This could also be helpful:

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
i would think some short term gps intereference and laser to blind are most spatially/visually removed or a drone dropping a blanket. phone with vpn is still located by cell towers in its exact position with its exact account, cmon.
spray paint is the cheapest thing, but i dunno how they 360 sensors are constructed
My friend loves the laser idea. Nearly certain there are powerful lasers that are “illegal” that could damage sensors and cameras that could be ordered from aliexpress or otherwise easily obtained.
Are those only illegal when shone at an aircraft/helicopter? Someones face/eyes? I would assume sensors too. But could a cop see you holding one and that would be considered a crime?
Any guides on powerful lasers and the law and safety for the user would be cool. I’ll look some up (for my friend) but any suggestions welcome.
they are flat illegal (if not looked at by dragnet), and your friend may bother to get them somewhat anonymously (or very temporally separated before action, a year or more). the best thing to get is laser safety goggles for appropriate wavelength. truly powerful lasers even on indirect reflection (from say white wall) are dangerous
purely hypothetically ir (800nm+) lasers are extremely suited for this, but they would require some night vision thingy to see the damn thing itself, so that would pile up expenses and suspicious purchases.
(the inconspicuous way is bluray players laser, especially old ones, but require some soldering and instructions following)
idk about destruction, at first I thought a fishing wire might jam up it’s wheels, but you’d prob just trip someone up.
a wooden beam across a bunch of pathways it often tries to go down would work, pretty inconspicuous setup that could essentially make an anti robot quarantine zone
that said, why even bother, it won’t accomplish anything useful really
Emp, and im only kinda joking.
Don’t hate it and didn’t think it was a thing to make small EMP devices outside of sci fi. There are some simple guides online but would love to pass along any recommended materials to My Friend if anyone has any

Something like this on the back of a little RC car with a remote trigger might be enough to cause a reboot if triggered underneath it. Looks like the bot has a 3d scanning array of some sort underneath which could be vulnerable.
Those have alarms on them but they’re not too loud. Not as loud as a car alarm though, so if you’re in an area where people dgaf and have your favorite Ronald Reagan mask on you might be ok, BUT the storage compartment’s lock will still be active.
Best bet might be catch it on a bridge and throw it overboard, then go down and get the goodies. Just as the Founding Fathers intended B-)
