No, MacArthur wanted to create a nuclear border to stop Chinese troops from flowing into the penninsula, however, he was fired when after getting told “no, I’m not going to let you nuke the most populous communist nation” MacArthur called Truman a pansy ass “Jew in the White House” and stated that HE would personally discuss the peace terms of the Korean affair. Thats when Truman and the rest of the Joint Chiefs (which was also filled with bloodthirsty psychopaths) agreed MacArthur was being far too political with his statements.

I don’t have a good citation because I heard it in Hardcore History with Dan Carlin, but it feels like it rhymes with how America threatened (soviets in?) Afghanistan soon after WW2 before anyone else had nukes. Which is to say since the inception of the nuke has been begging and pleading.
