I told the lib I work with that if any country was likely to be nuked, it would be Iran; the ‘international community’ international-community-1 international-community-2 would AT BEST finger wag at America but honestly wouldn’t give a damn beyond that, and why? Because no one likes Iran, that’s why they’ve tacitly agreed that it’s basically not possible to commit war crimes against them (which reminds me of a video I saw of an Israeli complaining about Iran’s retaliation, claiming Israel didn’t start it with Iran, and then quickly following up with that no one even likes Iran). Also secondly the nation most likely to do so would be America.

A few years back the guy (who is unfortunately on reddit FAR too much) was actually asking me if I think Putin might start a nuclear war with America if they happened to lose the war with Ukraine; he actually was asking if I believed Putin would be petty enough to start a nuclear war (yes, he actually specifically mentioned the cause being that Putin was going to be petty). Reddit literally infects people with brain worms.

Drop a nuke on the site and it will be entirely impossible to determine whether or not the the nuke successfully damaged the underground site because you will not be able to monitor radiation.

You can claim you successfully destroyed it.

Somebody smarter than me… do countries mark their nukes the same way companies mark their explosive compounds? Like, if you can get a sample of of explosive residue analysed, it can be traced back to a manufacturer.

Also, wouldn’t the radioactive contamination be different between a highly enriched weapon and a much less refined fuel rod?

scale matters. if they bomb underground and its mixed in with the iranian uranium itll be basically impossible to isolate any compounds from the american bomb for testing at that point.

Maybe I’m dumb but this strikes me as a news site distracting everyone from the fact that they still just want to do a unilateral strike on a country that amerikkka is not formally at war with. I’m pretty sure a nuclear weapon isn’t even what you’d want to use and they’re literally just saying they aren’t telling what they might use. It’s like a bunker buster situation.

That has been the default response basically by war hawks going back to the Korean War. During the Korean War, somewhat famously(?) MacArthur was practically on his knees begging Truman to let him drop something like 50 nukes on the border of Korea/China to, I dunno, “warn” the Chinese(?). It didn’t happen, but not for a lack of desire from those in high command. Bunch of absolutely unhinged psychos

No, MacArthur wanted to create a nuclear border to stop Chinese troops from flowing into the penninsula, however, he was fired when after getting told “no, I’m not going to let you nuke the most populous communist nation” MacArthur called Truman a pansy ass “Jew in the White House” and stated that HE would personally discuss the peace terms of the Korean affair. Thats when Truman and the rest of the Joint Chiefs (which was also filled with bloodthirsty psychopaths) agreed MacArthur was being far too political with his statements.

Things were getting way too woke already! Sure it was only like a decade after the Holocaust, but wtf, can’t they handle some politically incorrect heated language?!

Yes it’s incredibly funny the blooded and bloodthirsty cold war brass looked at MacArthur like he was glowing green.

Shows how fucked up he was lmao

I don’t have a good citation because I heard it in Hardcore History with Dan Carlin, but it feels like it rhymes with how America threatened (soviets in?) Afghanistan soon after WW2 before anyone else had nukes. Which is to say since the inception of the nuke holden-bloodfeast has been begging and pleading.
