Under the plan being discussed, the FBI would treat transgender suspects as a subset of the Bureau’s new threat category, “Nihilistic Violent Extremists” (NVEs).
White House counterterrorism czar Sebastian Gorka, who prior to Kirk’s murder, despite his prodigious output on X, had never tweeted the word “trans” during the second Trump term. The day after Kirk’s assassination, though, Gorka posted three separate Tweets on X about “trans shooters.”

On Thursday evening, independent journalist Ken Klippenstein reported that the FBI is developing tools to identify transgender suspects and classify them as “nihilistic violent extremists.” Within hours, the Oversight Project at the Heritage Foundation—the same outfit driving Project 2025’s blueprint now being implemented inside the federal government—released a four-page memo urging the bureau to go even further. Its proposal: formally designate all transgender activism as “Trans Ideology-Inspired Violent Extremism,” a new category of domestic terror threat. It’s important to note that the Heritage Foundation is not itself the federal government, and to our knowledge, its proposals are not yet in place. But the group’s influence is vast, especially in the wake of a Trump administration openly committed to implementing Project 2025. That makes its latest push far more than just a think-tank memo—it’s a roadmap for policy. Here’s what you need to know about the proposal.
The memo’s first section lays out its definition of “Transgender Ideology-Inspired Violence and Extremism,” a term it urges the FBI to adopt as official doctrine. Under its test, anyone who believes violence is justified against opponents of “transgender ideology” would qualify. But the definition doesn’t stop there. It also includes anyone who argues that stripping away transgender rights constitutes violence or an existential threat to transgender people. That second prong is sweeping: by its logic, nearly every transgender rights activist or organization—merely for pointing out the tangible harm that comes from losing rights—would fall under the label of extremist.
Creating material conditions worse than the conditions that formed the Gay Liberation Front is not actually a very smart move.
It is very beneficial to the US to have lgbt people as a blob of pink liberals, some with slightly radical views but otherwise the organisations are not radical. It keeps the group from being any sort of threat.
Previously it was a threat, and that’s exactly why they gave it concessions and improvements altering the conditions and deradicalising the group.
The only outcome of making things worse for lgbt people, starting with trans people, is creating the material conditions for their actual real radicalisation.
If you want queer guerillas hiding in plain sight committing real terrorism a good first step to getting that is taking away anything they have to lose from doing it by designating them terrorists before they’ve even considered it. Many lgbt guerillas are quite capable of becoming functionally invisible and will find a large segment of the population that is sympathetic to their cause.

Obviously it’s not good for LGBT people and I do not want it. But politically and strategically speaking this results in the material conditions that will create a massive number of radicals.
This isn’t a competent action. It’s ultimately self harming for capitalism. The system is much better off keeping these groups in material conditions that keeps them politically impotent.

Pink imperialism isn’t the only reason to keep the group from being in such conditions that they turn back to communism for liberation. It still remains beneficial, they’re just too incompetent to realise why.
They forget how normal we can look. I pass for a perfectly cishet woman, and a fairly conservative one when need be, and I know that a lot of femme presenting queer folks are the same. If they’re hunting visibly queer folks, they won’t see a lot of us until we’re already coming up behind them.
Also, their hate blinds them. They won’t see us, cause they’ll never cared enough to learn how we look, apart from karicatures.
I’m not certain that this isn’t a “smart move”. The point of these terror tactics is ultimately to expand the class of disposed proles. That necessarily means accepting a higher risk of radical action. Simultaneously, they are increasing state budgets for repression.
It is exactly what a rational capitalist would do. The old system of concessions cannot be sustained as the profit and birth rates collapse worldwide (both in the core and periphery). The ruling classes of the world are just as scared of the coming developments in the world order as we are. Perhaps even more so.
All that just tightens the contradiction rather than loosening it. To stave off inevitable revolution the contradiction must be loosened.
What they are doing is accelerating the tightening of the contradiction. They’re not loosening it. They’re not delaying the tightening.
It’s a bad move. Almost everything they’re doing is a bad move but they’re acting on “we have to try something” because they see the inevitable on the horizon as well. The issue is, they have no hand to play, there is no off ramp, there is no way for them to win. Besides global nuclear war that is but they consider that a loss just as much as we do.
They’re like an animal caught in a trap that is only making the trap worse with desperate actions. The “silver lining” that people in the comments are looking for here is that these are not good actions to take. They’re horrible for lgbt people but ultimately bad for capitalism.
Not tightening the contradiction isn’t an option for them. If we go by the trapped animal analogy, they are cutting off their own leg to escape the bear trap.
I would even go further and state that the rulering class of America is actually fairly sophisticated. Few other states or rulering classes act as proactively and shamelessly as they do, all the while maintaining strict loyalty within ranks.
That the American capitalists are destined to fail in the end is the result of the natural process of capitalism, and not because they are stupid.
Sure, but it doesn’t help that the current leadership is indeed very stupid. The oligarchs, as powerful as they are, don’t have such an immediate grasp on the levers of power as the government, and this particular ape with the proverbial machine gun seems to be more reckless than the banks intended. As unpopular as Trump is, his base is incredibly dumb but incredibly rabid and armed to the teeth and that gives him a lot of leeway to paint outside the lines.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. Part of what made the. Stonewall, the GLF, etc. possible was the fact that queer people were forced, by circumstance into gayborhoods, which are now largely gentrified to hell and back.
Do we see a return to queer population concentration? If not, what does resistance look like?
In hostile locations you’ll get that concentration. In liberal locations where there’s a generally sympathetic population as a whole you won’t get concentration.
These gay villages were a product of people herding together for safety and support networks. You get the same with migrant populations. They do it because they’re looking for a space where they can feel safer. It starts with a group of friends moving together, and then their friends/network move nearby too, and then their network, and so on. Eventually the small group that seeded it are forgotten about and people are moving into the area purely on reputation as “the chinese area” or “the gay area”.
If conditions are made hostile then yes you can absolutely expect grouping to occur.
We don’t even need violence. Forced public outing of closeted conservatives back in the 80s was far more devastating than stochastic crimes and they seem to have forgotten about it. All it takes is some tactical removed for the cause and I bet that a significant chunk of these media transphobes will be outed as chasers. Fuck around and find out or more like your wife, your pastor and your voters will find out. This puts already vulnerable people in a worse position in the country. Need a firearm to protect from bigots, but they’re trying to restrict trans access to them with a false narrative.
Trans people often have higher medical requirements, most places won’t do it unless you can prove you’ll be economically beneficial. Same reason why if you have a very visible disability it becomes almost impossible to emigrate.

Community. If you can, surround yourself with comrades or at least people you are confident will have your back like family and good friends which can of course include genuinely sympathetic libs. Make sure all of them know the kind of threat that is looming if not already present. I know this isn’t possible for many people (including me) in this hyper-atomized broken society, but the more you can form and solidify a close-knit network of people who are ready and willing to support and protect you and each other, the better off you’ll be in terms of immediate protection as well as general mental health and well being. Don’t go places alone if at all possible, but in a group or at least with another person. If we’re already “terrorists” then we’d do well to be in a gang. Organizing isn’t just for being a good activist, it’s literally something we’re going to have to do for survival as all of this continues to get worse. Stay aware of what’s going on locally, like in your town and city. Get armed.

What is interesting is that most mass shooters are NVEs or RMVEs[1]. By muddying the category of NVEs, this will assist degrade prevention efforts against those events. NVEs as a whole are an interesting group as they usually don’t have a political agenda, but are rather just fundamentally broken people. As conditions in the US deteriorate, more people will break and end up as NVEs. This is going to stifle any sort of prevention effort against those groups and worsen the feedback loop for the coming years of corn syrup.

I’m pretty sure there were some studies showing that mass shooters in this category are primarily antisocial disorder, narcissistic disorder salty, seething losers that basically decide to commit suicide and try to take as many people with them, along with a much smaller minority of psychotic ones who commit the act during a psychotic episode and are legitimately detached from reality and incapable of controlling their actions. Mix of capitalist alienation and abysmal healthcare. We should be attributing this type of event entirely to capitalism instead of the liberal blame the weapon/ideology to excuse the system crap. If we’re talking about the antisocial narc subcategory then the type of person who’ll end up doing this thing becomes this way very early on and long before they acquire any weapons and edgy ideologies compatible with their psychopathy.
Guatemala did this during the civil war. End result was a largely successful trans genocide that’s only recently recovered and even then a lot of them make plans to jump ship for Costa Rica or Mexico.
